Christmas is wonderful: we get to spend time with our friends and family, eat to our heart’s content and – best of all – there are tons of good movies released. Here are six of the best latest offerings to catch over the next week or so while you’re unwrapping those presents and devouring those chocolates. Merry Christmas!.
1. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Although not part of the official sequel trilogy, Rogue One has been hotly anticipated by fans since it was first announced in 2014. Felicity Jones stars as Jyn Erso, daughter of the man who designs the supremely powerful Death Star, while the iconic Darth Vader returns to our screens.Sure to be one of the highest-grossing films of 2016, this movie is accessible and offers fun viewing for all of the family.
Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Smith are the protagonists in this sci-fi movie, which tells the story of two astronauts who are woken from induced hibernation 90 years early. There is chemistry between the pair amid an intergalactic setting, meaning the movie offers something for ‘geeks’ and ‘romantics’ alike.
Telling the story of Moana, the daughter of a Polynesian chief, there are sea-faring adventures for the little ones to enjoy, while the character of Maui is sure to make them laugh out loud!.
4. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them:
5. Office Christmas Party:
Mistletoe, photocopiers and drunken bosses dancing… we’ve all attended an office Christmas party at some point, and this movie – featuring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman – turns the music up to 11 with a festive hoedown to end all festive hoedowns! With plenty of laughs, Office Christmas Party is perfect for when you’re digesting your roast beef on Christmas evening, or staving off that post-works do hangover
6. Assassin’s Creed:
New this Christmas is this adrenaline-packed action adventure movie, which reintroduces the popular 1990s notion of adapting a video game to the silver screen. Set during the Spanish Inquisition, the film stars Michael Fassbender as the dimension-defying hero, as well as Marion Cotillard and legendary ‘baddie’ Jeremy Irons. Just don’t attempt any of the gravity-bending stunts at home!
