With the incredible post-release success of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)” and “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015)”, Disney is already preparing itself and flexing its imaginative muscles to introduce four new Star Wars movie over the next four years. While Star Wars fans might become oversaturated with the thought of having to “wait” until these movies are released, most are prepared to get their geek on and introducing various fan theories about what might happen next. Are you looking forward to watching more of Star Wars? If so, then here are some upcoming Star Wars movies you should know about:
‘Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi’
This episode of the Star Wars will continue from where ““Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015)” left off. It will continue the story of the infamous Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe (Oscar Isaac). Most importantly, it will give us a little insight into the biggest mystery of the movie: who is Rey (Daisy Ridley) and how does she have control of the Force? Although untrained, she had the capability of almost defeating Kylo Ren (who is being mentored by the mysterious Supreme Leader “Snoke”). The movie is set to begin filming this January and is expected to release on December 15.
‘Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo’
This spin-off Star Wars movie, as the name implies, will be following the story and early life of the best and most favorite smuggler in a galaxy far, far away, Han Solo. It will show his history with the funny and favorite character, Chewbacca. It will be one of the first legendary Star Wars movies to feature Han Solo alone and describe his role with the Resistance (created by his wife Leia Organa). The movie will be directed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord and is already expected to be a fan favorite, paving the way for a bigger cinematic universe for Star Wars.
‘Star Wars: Episode IX’
Expected to release two years from now – the “Star Wars: Episode IX” will be the final chapter (third movie of the third trilogy) that will undoubtedly be a huge production. It will be written by Rian Johnson and Directed by Colin Trevorrow. Although there isn’t much insight into what might happen in the movie, it is clear that will be continuing the story of The Force Awakens. By this time, we may also learn about who are Rey (is she the last Jedi?) and Supreme Leader Snoke (is he stronger than the Emperor?), and what Luke has been up to the entire time.
‘Star Wars Anthology: Boba Fett’
Last, but not the least, a final anthology that is “rumored” to release in 2020 will be following the adventures of the famous bounty hunter, Boba Fett. This movie tied to the Han Solo anthology and “Rogue One” could possibly create a unique breed of Star Wars movies that wouldn’t center on the Skywalkers, Jedi’s, and the Empire. Would it still be fun? Well, that’s something we all have to wait for to find out!
